March 2005 Contest
Beware of the Basilisk
Beware of the Basilisk
The basilisk is dangerous
Beware its bulbous eyes
For walking down the corridor
They could be a surprise
Watch for the hidden chamber
Where the slither-creature lies

Only the speaker of a tongue
Can wake the crafty foe
And direct it through the castle
To tell it where to go
But snake speak is a language
That very few shall know

When Slytherin stormed far away
He did unleash his wrath
Making a new chamber
That would cross some student's path
For they would not know of it
Unless they did the math
